[I was at a school reunion once, and ran into a classmate whom I hadn’t seen for twenty years. “What are you doing these days?” he asked. “I’m a humor writer from Vermont,” I answered. He responded “You weren’t very funny in high school, and I doubt you’re very funny now.” Ouch!
Humor is tough. As Nigel said in Spinal Tap “It’s a fine line between clever and stupid.”
Silverback Ross is one of our newest SBs. He hails from the North-of-the-Border Jungle, and I met him South-of-the-Border in San Miguel. When he told me that he maintains a circulation list for jokes and cartoons, I immediately recognized him as a fellow ape. I wonder if he was this funny in high school? SB SM]
