[I am flooded with Beatles trivia on a daily basis. George’s affair with Maureen, the dispute over the lyrics of “Eleanor Rigby,” the contributions of Billy Preston … you name it, I know all about it. If you could relieve my brain of this trivia, my IQ would increase by 35 points (bringing it to 103). Cynthia Lennon, however, is a Beatles fringe personae about whom we hear relatively little. This comes from Quora … which is another of those things I don’t know very much about, except that it arrives in my Inbox every day. SB SM]
This stunning photograph of Cynthia Lennon, taken in 1964, embodies grace, dignity, and beauty. But what is most remarkable is her inner beauty, her golden heart.
She was a woman who could have portrayed herself as a victim and garnered sympathy by being scorned, but she refrained from doing so. It’s important to remember that she was in love with John Lennon long before he became the legendary rock and roll star. While John was in the spotlight as a member of the Beatles, she stayed behind the scenes, raising their young son, Julian.
When John left her with Yoko Ono, she could have demanded a huge settlement, but in that case, she was too confident that John would do the right thing. Her demand for such a small settlement clearly backfired, not for her own future, but because she wanted to clear her doubts that John would take care of Julian, since she wanted to ensure he was being looked after. Clearly not.
While John Lennon and Yoko Ono were celebrating “peace and love,” Cynthia could have easily gone to the British press and told them that John was not only an absent father but also doing nothing to financially support his only son. But even after all that, she loved John and felt the need to protect him. And she did so almost always throughout the rest of her life. Even when she wrote her book, she was simply telling the truth, not in any vengeful way, but as a way to prove that John had always held a very special place in her heart.
And last but not least, she was a wonderful mother to her son, Julian. He loved his mother very much and grew into a kind-hearted man who would undoubtedly be proud if John were alive and saw his musical talent and gentlemanly character. All the credit for the world goes to Cynthia.
This page is dedicated to respecting, admiring, and adoring Cynthia, the person and woman. To this day, she has not received the respect and recognition she deserves and deserves in relation to John Lennon and his life. She was John’s first true love and had a profound influence on him in his early adulthood. Sadly, there is absolutely no mention or acknowledgment of her existence on any of John’s official social media accounts. That is something that continues to frustrate Julian to this day.
She was truly one of a kind. And I’m so glad to see this unearthed photograph taken by Paul McCartney. It’s an amazing portrait and visual evidence of just how beautiful she was.
