
[This goes in the category of “If you live long enough … well, I guess I’ve lived long enough. This upcoming Saturday there will be a historical walk of the summer community where I grew up, Post Island. This neighborhood of Quincy, MA is just 8 miles south of downtown Boston, but when I was growing up, it felt like part of a different planet.
Now, I’m a relic and honored to be part of an event that casts my story into a different context. It’s my honor. SB SM]

Post Island
SATURDAY, September 20, 10 a.m.
Stroll along the dike to the private, seaside neighborhood of Post Island. Learn how this area has changed over the centuries and what is being done to ensure its future. Hear from residents, past and present, with generational ties to this community once referred to as the “Irish Riviera.” During our stroll, we’ll stop to enjoy views of the ocean & local marshes to learn what has been done to protect these special places and those that depend on them, including a recently completed Eagle Scout project focusing on endangered bats.
Space is limited. Registration is required. To register, email sowen@quincyma.gov indicating the number of people in your group. Meeting place and other tour details provided upon registration.

For me it all came crashing down after the Nor’easter of 2017, when the cottage built by my grandfather took its final hit.
