[Liziqi, aka Bamboo Girl, was my first girlfriend, and she will always occupy a most honored position in my Silverback harem, but every once in a while someone new comes along and just can’t be denied admittance. My most recent summer culinary passion is spring rolls, and my early attempts to master them would make suitable fare for Saturday Night Live. My spring roll quest has led me to YouTube which, in turn, has introduced me to this lady who has produced an array of videos characterized by her sing-songy “It’s do-o-o-n-n-n–ee!” What I love about spring rolls is that you can feature anything in the garden that is ready to come to table, and if you make mistakes, you can fall back on the fact that peanut sauce can cover up just about anything.
