Silly Saturday: Jim’s Jibes

[Jim is a college acquaintance, not quite a classmate, but close enough, who is amazingly insightful, witty, and prolific. He is a Silverback who immerses himself in Lake Elmore on a daily basis. SB SM]

Where is this taking me
This Galactic conspiracy
With Artificial literacy
And Political potency
Paid by Crypto currency
With Economic latency?

Oh won’t you turn it on

Musk Bezos Zuckerberg
A cartel of wealth absurd
An army of super nerds
We’re all in a docile herd
Into their trap we’re lured
All to their scheme inured

Oh what a pit I’ve dug
Scrolling like a slothy slug
Solitary, smug and snug
Some may their shoulders shrug
Don’t sweep it under the rug
Now’s time to pull the plug

A billion for a bunker,
A billion for his goons,
What is he preparing for?
And will it happen soon?

When his term is over,
Just where will he go?
Can ever he be happy
Down at Mar-a-Lago?

No one will pay attention,
No one will care at all:
Like Humpty Dumpty on the ground,
Helpless after the fall.

“What if I refuse to leave?
And hide out under the ballroom?
My patriots will defend my truth,
And keep me from my doom.”

There beneath the concrete sturdy
The former president cringes,
Thinking he’ll avoid his end:
He’s quite come off his hinges.

The last mad bunkered tyrant
Just eighty-one years ago
Thought he could foil his bitter end
A hundred feet below.

It’s been quite a weekend around the world
With celebrations galore.
A wedding, a birthday, a funeral:
Who could ask for anything more?

A singer and a sportsman in Madison Square
Got hitched: do you think it’ll last long?
All of the rich cognoscenti were there:
What a party, what a nuptial, what a throng!

The wedding took up most of the news space
On TV, on social, in your mind.
Glitz and celebrity running apace:
To what’s important, we remain blind.

Next in line came the nation’s birthday:
Two hundred fifty years!
On the National Mall the President’s party
Flopped, with more tears than cheers.

Third on the news wire, Khameini’s funeral:
Two million will view the coffin.
Killed by Israelis with $Dollars remuneral:
Perhaps we should assassinate more often.

(Imagine if you will, the Canadian Air Force
Acting with Russian finance,
Bombing our Cabinet, killing its head horse,
And rendering the others unable to dance.)

On this holiday weekend, let’s pause and reflect
On the nature of celebration:
Domestic tranquility? A union perfect?
Equality throughout our nation?

We’ve come a long way, but still far to go
To accomplish the goals that we set
On that July Fourth, so long long ago:
Moving forward, but not there yet.
