Been to Sopchoppy Lately?

[Nothing gives me more satisfaction than making Silverback Digest a platform for the creativity of other Silverbacks … the music of SB Greg, the insightful essays of SB Bill, the humor of SBs Ross and Dave, the recipes of SB Sandy. Dr. Steve Shepard, however, pushes this sense of satisfaction right to the edge with the offbeat content of his podcasts. Case in point … this recent episode on worm gruntin’. He sounds mature, he sounds sincere, he doesn’t snicker and laugh, but seriously? As Dr. Steve tells us “Have a listen,” and you will be all set for talking points at your next cocktail party. Curiosity can lead to some weird and wacky places—how about Sopchoppy, Florida, home of the American Worm Gruntin’ Festival? But there’s more to this story than that. Have a listen:

  1. Awww…thanks, Stephen! Sometimes, amidst the chaos of the political clown college we’re all watching, we need something human and ultimately funny to remind us that (1) people are good at heart, and (2) this really is a pretty cool world. How can anything compete with worm gruntin’?

  2. Actually, after Appilachicola where AC was invented see museum’- we have been to Sopchoppy lately = on the Ochlochony River but not to “Worm Woodstock” or the “Jesus River Festival”
    Joy’s of winter RV travel…
