[Last week we presented the story behind the inexplicable success of the mindless, teen anthem from the 1960s Louie, Louie. A similarly mindless, equally sophomoric song from the same era was Hang On Sloopy. I stumbled up a low budget remake of the song featuring the former lead singer of The McCoys and learned that there was a backstory way more interesting than the song. SB SM]
